HAILS, Alven N., age 79, of Cedar Avenue, Moundsville, W.Va., died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV.
He was born July 1, 1932 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the son of the late Richard W. and Emily Stopera Hails.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran; a retired employee from Blaw-Knox, Wheeling; graduated from Allied School Mechanic Trade, Chicago; and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness where he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on August 23, 1957 at Baltimore, Md.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, June Elmira Hails; a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence Edward and Eleanor Hails; and his father and mother-in-law, John and Mary Landers Legg.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Donna Legg Hails; a brother, Richard Andrew (Shirley) Hails, and a sister, Sharon Malatesta, all of Pinellas Park, FL; sisters-in-law, Bea (Ray) West of Moundsville, and Aveleen Persinger of Wilmington, NC; and many beloved nephews and nieces.
Family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville.
Private interment will be held at Graysville Cemetery, Proctor.
A Memorial Service will be held January, 1 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 12 Ash Avenue, Moundsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
