Jehovah’s Witnesses hosted an open house on November 12th at the new Kingdom Hall located on the west side of Highway #34 in the town of Bengough.

It’s nice to see new buildings constructed here; it shows faith and trust in our little town. It is an attractive building on the outside with a covered driveway at the entrance. When you enter the building there is a nice size foyer including cloak area and two washrooms. The main auditorium has carpeted flooring, 80 well padded chairs with armrests a seating capacity of approximately 150, excellent lighting, with simple decor. Neal Palmer stated, “It is a very comfortable building to worship our God, to say farewell to our friends and loved ones and to marry our children.”

The concrete slab floor is heated with glycol filled tubing throughout and a forced air furnace/air conditioning unit situated outside building. A state of the art sound system with 12 speakers located in ceiling makes hearing possible for everyone.

There were a total of 530 volunteers consisting of journeymen tradesmen, operators and kitchen workers. Volunteers hailed from all areas of Saskatchewan, Alberta and other areas of Canada. There was an average of 180 to 200 people on the job on any given day.

The roof was constructed at ground level, wiring and all and was then crane-lifted into position onto the walls, saving a lot of time. The structural part above the concrete pad was completed in 8 days down to the last nail and coat of paint.

The regional building committee oversees the quality of meeting places and after discussing the matter of the Bengough hall, a new building was suggested. The building fund was put in motion. There is always a little hesitation about financing a large project but one of the younger members suggested that the cost would not be a lot different then that of a new combine, and with that thought in mind the project was a go. Donations from local and provincial members and a loan from the Watchtower Society if needed, meant and financing was established.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses community is very pleased and proud of their accomplishment and wanted to show it to the Bengough community with an open house. Neal Palmer and Richard Volke gave us a guided tour of the hall.
